Complete the plEDGE Summer Engagement Requirement

What is the Summer Engagement Requirement?

The Summer Engagement Requirement is designed to prepare students for the challenges of higher education. Students have two options for fulfilling this requirement. The first option, Option A, offers a review of essential courses to help students strengthen their academic foundation and prepare for college-level coursework. The second option, Option B, allows students to get a head start on their college journey by taking courses during the summer, earning credits ahead of the Fall semester. Both options are intended to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their academic careers and aspirations.

Option A: EDGE Summer Bridge Course

EDGE offers three-week non-credit courses in English, mathematics, and student development. To qualify for plEDGE, students must complete at least one class. Students can take one, two, or all three courses within the different sessions available.

EDGE Non-Credit Courses:

  • English EDGE (ENG-300)
  • Math/Statistics EDGE (MATH-300 or SOC-300)
  • Student Development EDGE (COUN-300)

Students must pass at least one of their EDGE non-credit courses to fulfill the Summer Engagement Requirement.

Option B: Summer Credit Course

Enroll in a six- or eight-week Summer Credit Course. Students who register for a summer credit course will select classes that align with their educational goals and are on their student educational plan.

Registration for the Summer and Fall 2025 semester opens April of 2025

Students must meet with a counselor to receive assistance selecting a course.
Students must pass their courses with a C or better to fulfill the plEDGE Summer Engagement Requirement.

Failure to successfully complete your summer credit course could affect your financial aid eligibility.
