It is very important to learn the red flags to look out for when conducting a job search.
Please be aware of the following red flags that can help you identify fraudulent jobs:
They are asking you to shop for them
You have to send them money
The job sounds too good to be true
The job they offer isn’t the one you applied for
They won’t meet you in person
You can’t verify their information
They’re asking for personal information over the phone or email
You’ll be working from home and never meet your employer
If you suspect a position is fraudulent, please contact the Career and Workforce Solutions Center at cwsc@collegeofthedesert.edu or 760.674.7799.
It is very important for you to educate yourself about potential scams. While the Career and Workforce Solutions Center does not knowingly accept fraudulent job postings through Handshake, unfortunately, false job postings may appear in our listings from time to time. False job listings are typically used to illegally collect personal information from job seekers or facilitate other forms of illegal activity.
