As the peer advocates for the students of College of the Desert, ASCOD strives to promote higher education, a sense of community, diversity, student engagement and act as student liaisons to the COD staff, faculty, and administration. ASCOD exists to ensure that the needs of the students are enhanced and met in order to better serve and help make student's College of the Desert experience a memorable one.

Eligibility Requirements Checklist

In order for an application, election, or appointment with ASCOD to be considered, a student must meet the following qualifications:

Executive Officers and Student Trustee

Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Must be enrolled in at least six (6) units at College of the Desert
Must have completed a minimum of six (6) units at College of the Desert when term of office commences
Shall maintain and pass at least six (6) college units per semester at College of the Desert during the Fall and Spring semesters
Must be available to attend ASCOD Student Senate meetings every Monday from 2pm-4pm
Term of office shall be (1) full academic year
Must serve on at least (3) ASCOD and COD Standing/Academic committees

Independent Senators

Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 at COD, or must have a GPA of 2.0 at a previously attended institution
Must be enrolled in at least six (6) units at College of the Desert
Shall maintain and pass at least six (6) college units per semester at College of the Desert during the Fall and Spring semesters
Must be available to attend ASCOD Student Senate meetings every Monday from 2pm-4pm
Term of office shall be (1) full academic year
Must serve on at least (3) ASCOD and COD Standing/Academic committees
