In the heart of Southern California's Coachella Valley, College of the Desert is located next to the resort town of Palm Springs, California. COD is also only a short drive from Los Angeles and San Diego! Students at COD pursue their educational goals while enjoying lush landscaping, warm breezes and a breathtaking panorama of the mountains. With only 15-20 days of rain each year, dry air and low humidity, there is fun in the sun by day and balmy desert evenings to enjoy.
The Palm Springs area is famous for the over 100 golf courses that attract visitors from around the world. If you have ever wanted to learn how to play golf, or improve your skills, our location is perfect for you! In fact, this area attracts a variety of national events including professional golf and tennis tournaments. Our moderate climate makes outdoor activity very popular in the desert and you can enjoy many nature hikes, balloon rides and even a trip up the famous Palm Springs Aerial Tramway!
In our resort town, you will find a variety of restaurants and shops to meet all of your tastes. You can visit El Paseo - our version of Rodeo Drive! You can also try the outdoor markets that are held in downtown Palm Springs every Thursday evening and the Street Fair that is held at COD every weekend!
As a vacation destination, we attract many international visitors, yet we are able to maintain a safe, small town atmosphere. Students can relax in this beautiful desert oasis and feel comfortable knowing that they are living in a safe and clean environment.
